The Prisoner of Zenda (1922 - Black and White Silent Film) - An Overview

Uploaded here is the authentic 1922 classic film The Prisoner of Zenda starring Ramon Novarro as Rupert of Hentzau the 'handsome rogue' of the film yes this is what the veterans of WWI would have been watching as it was the first ever 'cult classic' gaining a wide following and making Ramon Novarro something of a sex icon with the ladies of his day.

Which was rare in those days, but it was a tail dear to many European hearts, to have a Good King who looked after the people, compared to a Tyrant who would rule them with an Iron Fist, which is only good for the youth in the military, that they may learn discipline. In the movie it details how the Crown Prince is soon to be married to his Cousin and be crowned King however, the King's Nemesis (whom I believe is also another Cousin of his) wants the throne for himself and plots a conspiracy in which to seize power in the Kingdom. Rupert of Hentzau is one of his henchmen who fights against Rassendyll trying to raise Michael to the throne, while Rassendyll seeks to restore the rightful king.
